Organized Chaos (20/25 Anniversary Edition: 1997-2002): 1st & 2nd studio releases

Before the breakout release of Divine Atrocities, Nocturnal Omissions had already gone through several formative phases. Two early EPs eventually evolved into the project’s first digital-only album, released quietly for early supporters, friends, and family who had asked for access to the older material.

In February 2022, those early works were re-released publicly. Within the first two weeks, the project lost roughly 25,000 Spotify followers, a number that had taken years to build. It was a hard lesson in timing, audience expectations, and context.

That said, these releases capture a real moment in time.

Early EPs and Origins

ShatteredTearz EP (1997)
Originally shared through AOL file sharing and Geocities, this release was written between January and September 1997 using S3M tracker files. It was later re-released in IT format in September 1998.

Style focused on experimental electronic rhythm, avant-garde structures, noise, and heavy sampling. All tracks were built using tracker software from the mid 90s.

Seven tracks total re-released, Bonus material included Doctrine of Lies (2002 version) and three cover songs, later removed from the final release.

Rhythmic Anomaly EP (2002)
Released for free on Geocities, this project expanded the sound using early DAWs, including FruityLoops 3, Reason, Cool Edit Pro 2, and Cakewalk 4.

Ten original tracks and three cover songs were later removed in subsequent versions. The sound leaned further into experimental rhythm, noise, and synth-driven compositions.

Organized Chaos (2002)

Organized Chaos began as an experimental compilation and was later uploaded to MySpace in 2003. That release sparked the project’s first real traction, growing a following from roughly 1,000 listeners to over 3,000 by the time Divine Atrocities landed.

The album blends material from both earlier EPs and stands as a snapshot of raw experimentation, limited tools, and unlimited ideas.

Final Word

Releasing these early works as an established artist was a risk, and in hindsight, a mistake. But the music itself stands as an honest capture of late nights, summer evenings, zero-budget production, and pure curiosity. Those moments mattered. They shaped everything that came after, and there is no regret in preserving them.
